Start-up consultation

In collaboration with the start-up consultants from the Worldfactory, we accompany each start-up idea individually and systematically. Following the motto ‘love the problem – not your solution,’ we align ourselves with Ash Maurya’s Lean Canvas model. In the start-up consultation, we address various start-up topics according to this framework.

How we work in start-up consultation

13 points we emphasize

  1. We aim to raise awareness about entrepreneurship without persuading individuals to start a business.
  2. We do not provide assessments on the success of the business model.
  3. We are independent and not seeking personal gain, which means we do not require ownership stakes or private investments in the venture.
  4. Information shared with us regarding business models, business plans, etc., is treated confidentially, even in relation to Ruhr-University Bochum itself.
  5. We work in a solution-oriented and economically sustainable manner.
  6. We adopt a user-centric approach, meaning we tailor our work to the needs of our founders, not the other way around.
  7. We always consider the compatibility of studying or university activities with entrepreneurship.
  8. We cannot provide advice on legal or tax matters but can only offer guidance on these topics.
  9. We treat everyone equally regardless of their field of study, hierarchy level, industry, or technological focus. Every founder has the right to accurate and fair advice.
  10. As part of the Univercity network, we also advise external students and researchers, provided our capacity allows for it.
  11. We do not make agreements with consultants and other third parties for the referral of founders to gain financial or other benefits. All referrals/recommendations are made in the best interest of the founders.
  12. As a team, we work together, not against each other, to provide the best possible consultation for our founders.
  13. If we don’t know something, we admit it. But we seek someone who does and refer accordingly if possible.
